Five coaches named for All-American Game

Five of the six coaches for the second annual Choices Hotel High School All-American Game were announced Monday night, and those individuals have combined for more than 1,600 high school wins.

The West team will be coached by Mike Gauvain of Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.), Steve Lawrence of Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Matt Longo of Quincy (Quincy, Ill.). Greg Mauch of Canterbury (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) and Mike McLaughlin of St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio) are the East coaches. A third East team coach will be announced later this fall.

The All-American Game will be held Dec. 8 in Birmingham, Ala., the same weekend as the NCAA Men’s Soccer College Cup. The contest will pit standout high school seniors from fall-playing high school programs. In Addition to playing in the All-American Game, participants will attend both the NCAA semifinal and championship matches.
