Girls ESR Top 50: Oct. 16

TOP STORY: As playoff time nears, the number of undefeated teams is starting to thin out. This week, two teams — Alta (Sandy, Utah) and St. Agnes (Memphis, Tenn.) — move into the Top 10 for the stretch run. Alta will be competing in the state semifinals this week while St. Agnes starts postseason play.

BIG MOVER: Dublin Coffman (Dublin, Ohio). After completing an undefeated regular season, Dublin Coffman moved up nine spots this week, matching rival Dublin Jerome for the greatest gain from last week’s ranked teams.

NEWCOMERS: No. 38 Bay (Bay Village, Ohio), No. 42 Rocky River (Rocky River, Ohio), No. 46 Pennington School (Pennington, N.J.), No. 47 Neshaminy (Langhorne, Pa.), No. 48 Green Valley (Henderson, Nev.), No. 49 St. Joseph (South Bend, Ind.) and No. 50 Gig Harbor (Gig Harbor, Wash.).

Miranda Gonzalez and Brianna Parsons each scored a goal as Maria Carrillo edged Cardinal Newman 2-1 in a battle of league and section frontrunners.
3 Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) 13-0-0 3
Madison Holleran had three goals and two assists and Clare Shea added three goals and one assist as Northern Highlands won a pair of matches last week.
4 Perrysburg (Perrysburg, Ohio) 16-0-0 4
Perrysburg starts postseason play Wednesday against Waite.
5 Eastern (Vorhees, N.J.) 15-0-0 5
Rutgers commit Madison Tiernan had four goals and four assists last week as Eastern won three matches.
6 Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) 9-0-1 6
Midge Purce scored four goals last week as Good Counsel posted a pair of wins. The Falcons put their undefeated record on the line this week against fellow state power and nationally ranked McDonogh.
7 Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) 14-0-2 7
Walsh Jesuit completed a perfect run through league play with a 6-0 win over Beaumont. A few days later, Walsh Jesuit closed out an undefeated regular season with a 3-1 victory over Bishop Watterson.
8 Strongsville (Strongsville, Ohio) 15-1-0 9
Alexis Manoa scored five goals and added an assist as Strongsville swept a pair of opponents in New Mexico — Los Alamos and Taos. Strongsville, with 12 shutouts, carries a 14-match win streak into the playoffs this week.
9 Alta (Sandy, Utah) 17-0-1 13
Madie Lyons had two goals and three assists as Alta won a pair of playoff matches over Lehi and Fremont. The wins move Alta into this week’s state semifinals.
10 St. Agnes (Memphis, Tenn.) 16-0-1 11
St. Agnes added a pair of shutout victories to the record last week, blanking St. Benedict and Collierville. St. Agnes’ final state ranking likely will be linked to Franklin’s showing in the Class AAA playoffs since the teams during the regular season.
11 Franklin (Franklin, Tenn.) 16-0-2 14
Franklin defeated Centennial 4-0 to head into the final week of regular-season play with an undefeated record.
12 Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.) 11-0-2 15
Four players scored the goals as Skyline posted wins over Garfield and Woodinville.
13 Pickerington North (Pickerington, Ohio) 14-0-2 16
Pickerington North closed regular-season play with a 4-0 victory over Grove City.
14 Cumberland Valley (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) 15-1-1 10
After sustaining an upset loss to Cedar Cliff, Cumberland Valley bounced back with a 5-0 win over Carlisle. The Eagles remain ranked fairly high, in large part, because the team has a win over current No. 15 Peters Township.
15 Peters Township (McMurray, Pa.) 15-1-0 17
Peters Township clinched the section title with a win over Upper St. Clair, then pinned a 4-0 defeat on former Top 50-ranked Bethel Park.
16 Strath Haven (Wallingford, Pa.) 16-0-0 18
Strath Haven has allowed only four goals this season.
17 Lenape (Medford, N.J.) 11-3-0 19
Lenape avenged one of its losses in a big way — routing Cherokee 7-1. Lenape’s other two losses are to Top 10-ranked Eastern.
18 McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.) 11-1-0 21
McDonogh rolled up a 9-0 win over Bryn Mawr, the team’s final match before this week’s clash with former No. 1 Good Counsel.
19 Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.) 17-0-1 22
Farragut rolled up 14 goals in a pair of outing last week, extending its undefeated run to 18 matches.
20 Dublin Coffman (Dublin, Ohio) 13-0-4 29
Bailey Wilson and Haley Lehmkuhl scored the goals in Dublin Coffman’s regular season-ending 2-0 win over Upper Arlington.
21 Dublin Jerome (Dublin, Ohio) 12-1-3 30
Canadian Youth National Team performer Lindsay Agnew scored five goals in the team’s 8-1 win over Olentangy Liberty last week.
22 Holy Name (Parma, Ohio) 11-2-2 24
Holy Name inches a few spots higher following wins over Normandy and North Olmstead by a combined 11-3 margin.
23 St. Anthony’s (Melville, N.Y.) 10-1-1 25
St. Anthony’s is about to give head coach Dave Prutting his 400th career win at the Long Island private school. Prutting enters the week with 398 victories.

Sheridan Street and Jennifer Voyton have combined for 27 goals for this perennial state title challenger.
