Girls Preps: Nobles stays No. 1

This week, the ESR Prep School rankings are expanded from five to 10 teams. While the previous top five are still among the top 10, there are plenty of changes throughout the rankings.

The ESR Prep School rankings will be released every other week throughout the fall high school season.

Schools in this ranking are not eligible for the ESR Top 50 high school rankings because these schools either field post-grad players or compete in a league with post-grad and fifth-year players or plays a schedule of post-grad programs.

Rankings through matches played as of Oct. 14, 2012

Rk. School (City, State) Record Prev.

So far this season Nobles has wins over Loomis and BB&N and a tie with last year’s No. 1 Worcester.
2 Loomis Chaffee (Windsor, Conn.) 7-1-0 NR
Loomis, last year’s No. 2 team, has rolled off seven straight wins since a season-opening, one-goal loss to top-ranked Nobles. The teams could clash in the Prep A playoffs.

Rivers School has allowed only one goal this season. The team has ties with Worcester and Governor’s Academy and a win over Brooks School.
4 Governor’s Academy 6-0-1 NR
A undefeated start to the season, which includes a draw with Rivers School, vaults this team into the top five.
5 Brooks School (North Andover, Mass.) 9-1-0 2
Brooks falls from the No. 2 spot following a setback to Rivers School. This program boasts early wins over both Phillips Andover and Phillips Exeter.
6 Wilbraham and Monson (Wilbraham, Mass.) 7-0-2 NR
Wilbraham’s defining result so far this season is a draw with No. 7 Worcester.
7 Worcester Academy (Worcester, Mass.) 5-1-4 4
Worcester Academy has draws with three top 10 teams, but a loss to unranked Milton bounced last year’s No. 1 team from the top five this week.
8 Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, Conn.) 7-1-1 3
A loss to Williston and a draw with Westminster resulted in a five-spot drop for this Prep A contender.
9 Berkshire School (Sheffield, Mass.) 4-2-1 NR
While the record might not be overwhelming, the only setbacks are to Hotchkiss and Wilbraham, both ranked in the top 10.
10 Deerfield Academy (Deerfield, Mass.) 6-3-0 NR
Deerfield finds itself in a very similar situation as Berkshire, with losses to current top 10 programs.
