PDA Harkes player picks Bucknell

Andrew Leischner, who was named the Union County Boys’ Soccer Player of the Year by the Star-Ledger in December, committed to Bucknell on Monday, he confirmed to ESR.

Leischner, a Class of 2013 midfielder prospect, was part of a Scotch Plains-Fanwood (Scotch Plains, N.J.) high school team that spend most of the season ranked among the nation’s top programs until an upset, shootout loss in the playoffs. Leischner and his teammates gave Fall No. 1 St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, N.J.) its closet call of the season in a 1-0 match. For the year, Leischner finished with 10 goals and 12 assists, and he also made the Star-Ledger first-team all-state squad.

He plays club soccer for PDA Harkes.

Leischner joins a Bucknell recruiting class that includes

Harry Birch of Connecticut, Sebastiaan Blickman of Massachusetts, Justin Galiani of Virginia, Peter Krebs of California, Austin Lenart of New Jersey and Crispin Muessle of Maryland.
