Another player suspended for YNT participation

For the second time this week, a California Central Coast Section girls soccer player has been suspended for participation in a US Soccer Youth National Team event that was not sanctioned by the California Interscholastic Federation, and this time it proved rather costly to the high school team. The San Jose Mercury News reported that Jacey Pederson has been ruled ineligible, and since the freshman standout played in Palo Alto’s opening round playoff contest, the team has forfeited the match and is now eliminated from the playoffs. Earlier this week, Tegan McGrady suffered the same penalty but since it was discovered prior to the playoffs, her Santa Teresa (San Jose, Calif.) is competing in the postseason without her.
