Girls ESR Spring Top 50, March 12

TOP STORY: By the end of this week, just about every spring-playing state will have started regular-season play. At that point, the results will start to replace the hype and expect the weekly “churn” to kick in in earnest. Each week, on average, six to eight teams will lose their way out of the Top 50 and be replaced by another set of teams that have earned a chance to be considered among the elite. This process will play out until the last spring matches are contested in mid-June.

BIG MOVER: Bentonville (Bentonville, Ark.). Bentonville vaults into the rankings, powered by a victory over Edmond North (Okla.), which beat former Top 10-ranked Jenks (Okla.) last week.

NEWCOMERS: No. 26 Bentonville (Bentonville, Ark.), No. 46 Mountain Brook (Mountain Brook (Ala.), No. 47 Riverside (Greer, S.C.), No. 48 South Aiken (Aiken, S.C.) and No. 50 Assumption (Davenport, Iowa).

NOTES: The spring season includes the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California (spring), Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
