NEWARK, N.J. — St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, N.J.) will play host to world-renowned under-18 teams from Colombia, England, Israel and Italy in late August as part of the Capelli Sport/Newark Liberty International Soccer Summit.
A press conference regarding the event has been scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST at St. Benedict’s Prep, the school’s media relations director said Sunday.
Italy is sending its team from Inter Milan FC, while England is represented by powerhouses Liverpool and Queens Park Rangers. FUDDERCOL is coming from Colombia and Israel is bringing its well-known Maccabi Haifa FC to Newark. St. Benedict’s, Players Development Academy (N.J.) and FC Greater Boston Bolts (Mass.) are the U.S. delegates that round out the field for this year’s International Soccer Summit.
This is the 16th International Soccer Summit hosted by St. Benedict’s, but the first since 2008.
Group play starts Aug. 27 with the consolation and championship matches slated for Aug. 31, all played at New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Lubetkin Field.
